Sapiens - A Brief History Of Humankind

October 04, 2020·1 min read

If there’s one book which I would (without a doubt) recommend to anyone of any age group for years to come, it’s Sapiens. And don’t worry, I’ll write every reason as to why I love this book and also why I hate it (YES! there’s a solid reason why you’d also hate it too). So let’s see what made Homo sapiens (which by the way means “Wise Man”) what it is today.

The book covers almost 13.5 billion years of pre-history and history. Homo sapiens (which means you, me and possibly anyone who can read and make sense of this post at the time of writing this) was not the only species of man. In fact the earth, a hundered millenia years ago, was walked by atleast 6 different species of man - Homo neanderthals, Homo erectus, Homo soloensis And in words of Harrari we (Homo spaiens) were then “An animal of no significance” and yet today we live in a world where nothing is more holy and valuable than a Human life! So, how did we reach here? What made us so significant? and by the way, where did our cousin neanderthals go? Harrari answers them all in the book.
